Our Communities

Located on the southern bank of the Merrimack River where it empties into the Atlantic Ocean, Newburyport neighbors Ipswich and has a long and rich history. It is the birthplace of the U.S. Coast Guard where beautiful Federalist historic homes line the streets of this charming city forming walkable neighborhoods and easy access to shopping, dining, and the waterfront. The coastline spans 2.5 miles where you can find waterfront homes and Newbury Beach. Plum Island is a small barrier island off Newburyport that is a popular tourist destination in the summer months. With a population of approximately 18,000, and occupying 8.7 square miles, the city is 35 miles from Boston, accessible by train in an hour. Newburyport has a thriving downtown with many shops, restaurants, museums, a movie theater, and a YMCA; perfect for an active adult lifestyle! This active community hosts many events throughout the year including the annual Art Walk, River Fest and Great Chef’s Night.
