Protecting Your Deposit When Buying a House - Hiring the Right Professional is Key

alt tag

Buyers! Pay attention! Being in your shoes, in today's real estate market especially, requires an enormous amount of patience and perseverance, more than I've ever seen in my 35 years. You're putting a lot of trust in the hands of the agent you choose to represent you. This relationship goes far beyond crossing the threshold together and requires an incredible amount of professionalism, interpersonal skills, organization, polish and expertise on the part of the agent. I have an inside view and after all this time, I'm still impressed with the fortitude of every buyer and every agent on my team; it really is remarkable. Why should you care? Because ONE of the jobs on the shoulders of your representative is to protect your earnest money deposit. Signing a Contract to Purchase binds you legally and the parameters in that contract require close monitoring and compliance of specific dates and terms. Make sure you hire an EXPERIENCED REALTOR®, not just someone with a real estate license;  there's a big difference. I've seen buyers' deposits in jeopardy because untrained salespeople (from other cooperating companies) are all too casual about the contract parameters. '3 Times You Can Kiss Your Earnest Money Refund Goodbye'!  Don't let it happen to you! Work with one of the north shore's most experienced team of REALTORS®

There's a lot of speculation about the answers to these quesitons. Here's a look at "The 2000s Housing Cycle With 2020 Hindsight" and an informative story by Greg Rosalsky of Planet Money on home prices and housing bubbles.

Have you Heard? Downtown Ipswich, MA - On Location - Filming of Stephen King's 'Salem's Lot' Remake

alt tag

Downtown Ipswich, MA will be home to another movie filming in the fall!

George Clooney was on Central Street (feels like yesterday) filming for 'The Tender Bar' and now we have a remake of Stephen King's 'Salem's Lot' (hello 1970s!) rumored to be starring Jake Gyllenhaal. Both chose Ipswich for their on-location scenes; is this a new trend? I hope so!
