Much to my surprise and delight we had an impromptu visit this week; first the morning class from the Winthrop Integrated Preschool of Ipswich and then the afternoon class. The kids, all bundled up, hiked on foot, food pantry items in hand. They paraded in and each placed their item into the donation box. We were thrilled! Special thanks to the teachers for taking the initiative, bringing the kids down and showing them first hand what the season of giving is really about. Every year we collect on behalf of the Ipswich Food Pantry and it's truly a joy for us when we get to see the kids. I'll never forget River and Summer who came by last year with money from their piggy banks, revisit that story. Well they showed up again this year, again with their baggies full of money! Way to go mom!
We are planning a huge delivery to the pantry and have set the deadline as Wednesday, December 16th at noon. This will ensure it gets into the hands of those who need it in time for Christmas. So come on by if you'd like to donate either non perishable food items or checks made out to Ipswich Food Pantry. We are also sponsoring a family through Ipswich Caring, checks made out to Ipswich Caring. And if you have any coats or warm weather clothing items, men's or woman's but adult sizes only, we are collecting for a shelter in Gloucester.
That's what it's ALL about folks. Now if that doesn't get you into the
spirit...
