Drowning Doesn't Look Like Drowning

drowningThis past weekend's heatwave sent me to a local swimming pond in Georgetown equipped with a beach, dock, floating raft for the kids to swim out to, playground, volleyball net, tennis courts, basketball court, batting cages and ampitheatre; all things reminiscent of good old fashioned Summertime fun. Even the ice-cream truck showed up!

Now that my son has reached the age where he can be in the water without me, I found myself treading in new territory accompanied by new boundary setting. Here's one of those instances where Facebook outdoes itself...a "friend" posted this article and after reading it, I am compelled to share and to plead with you to read it.  Whether you have kids or not, there will be many instances this Summer placing you in or near water with family, friends, your kids, their kids, someone elses kids, boaters, swimmers, paddlers, old, young, you name it. So just take a moment, at least remember this -- children playing in the water make noise. When they get quiet, you get to them and find out why. Click here to find out what drowning looks like. Hint...It's doesn't look like drowning.
