You're not alone. Boston.com shares a survey that says 30% of American adults have terrible credit. What constitutes bad? What's good enough? Click here.
Under federal law, the three major credit reporting agencies, Equifax, Trans Union and Experian, are each required to provide consumers with one free copy of their credit report each year. This means you can monitor what those agencies are saying about you not once, not twice, but three times a year for FREE. Credit reports notoriously harbor mistakes that can be detrimental to your buying power and the process of having them rectified can take an eternity. Periodical review of your report is also a great way to monitor for identity fraud.
