An Inexpensive Home Improvement with a Return Estimated at More than Double it's Cost! Can you guess what it is?

I just received my January issue of Realtor Magazine and thought this would be a good time to share some news about remodeling projects and how to get the biggest bang for your buck. Back in October I gave you a link to the latest Cost Vs. Value Report. I have been reading these reports for years now and this is the first time I've ever seen entry doors included in the surveys. That's right, I said entry doors. Mid-range entry door replacements turned out to be the least expensive of the 33 projects included in the analysis, yet brought a whopping average national return on investment of 128.9 percent. That was news to me! We've all heard, "you only get one chance to make a first impression".  Sounds like that first impression is a major factor when you are in the Buyer's shoes. I recommend reading the full article  particularly if you are planning improvements with the intention of selling your home in the near future.

The Kids Made the Ipswich Chronicle!

ipswchronwinthropkidsRemember this post from December 10th? Well the Ipswich Chronicle was kind enough to make room for at least one photo and here it is! The kids from the Winthrop Preschool deserve it! They paraded down to our office on a cold winter day lead by their teachers.  It really is a valuable lesson and we are fortunate to have teachers who agree and are proactive about it. We were so happy to see them and hope they come again soon! We are always collecting on behalf of the food pantry so keep us in mind, year-round.

Buyers Continue to Whittle Away at Inventories

HousingRecoverActBoston Globe reports a surge in Massachusetts home sales. All of us at Windhill would agree; as we finish up the year celebrating a fantastic 2009, with high expectations for 2010. It sounds like the forcasters are holding their breath until Spring. Here in Ipswich, MA we already know of inventory soon to hit the market and have a cache of buyers waiting in the wings.  We expect to be very busy come Spring, not only with sales, but with the move to our newly constructed location a few doors down at 16 Market Street, Ipswich, MA.  Do you think the surge in sales will last? Read the full story.

Ipswich Food Pantry - HUGE Contribution!

bagMission accomplished! It took three of us to fill up Lynn Gibbs' station wagon with a huge food donation. She drove away minutes ago with all the loot, headed directly to the pantry to unload. She had other stops planned but there wasn't enough room! During times like these with the economy the way it is, it overwhelms me to see such generosity and good will. We should all be very proud to be part of a community that comes through even during the toughest of times. Not only did we receive food items, but monetary donations from the community, very impressive. Thanks Ipswich Food Pantry, Lynn Gibbs and all your volunteers for keeping it going. Thanks team Windhill for your contributions of money, time and muscle (those cans are heavy)!

We still have our donation box and will continue to serve as a drop off for non perishable items for the Ipswich Food Pantry. Come on down! The pantry has decided to be open to it's clients on Tuesday the 22nd so there's still time to donate and get the goods in the hands of those who need it for Christmas!

Warm Hearts in Ipswich, MA

Much to my surprise and delight we had an impromptu visit this week;  first the morning class from the Winthrop Integrated Preschool of Ipswich and then the afternoon class. 037 The kids, all bundled up, hiked on foot, food pantry items in hand. They paraded in and each placed their item into the donation box. We were thrilled!  Special thanks to the teachers for taking the initiative, bringing the kids down and showing them first hand what the season of giving is really about. Every year we collect on behalf of the Ipswich Food Pantry and it's truly a joy for us when we get to see the kids. I'll never forget River and Summer who came by last year with money from their piggy banks, revisit that story. Well they showed up again this year, again with their baggies full of money!   Way to go mom!

We are planning a huge delivery to the pantry and have set the deadline as Wednesday, December 16th  at noon. This will ensure it gets into the hands of those who need it in time for Christmas. So come on by if you'd like to donate either non perishable food items or checks made out to Ipswich Food Pantry. We are also sponsoring a family through Ipswich Caring, checks made out to Ipswich Caring. And if you have any coats or warm weather clothing items, men's or woman's but adult sizes only, we are collecting for a shelter in Gloucester.

That's what it's ALL about folks.  Now if that doesn't get you into the
